How it works

Two links, and nothing to manage.

Vela Drop hosts one self-contained HTML file and tells you who opened it. That is the whole product — the rest is deliberate restraint.

Step 01

Drop the file.

One .html file, up to 20 MB. No ZIPs, no folders, no build step.

Step 02

Get two links.

A public view link, and a private edit link that is your dashboard. Both unguessable.

Step 03

Share and watch.

Add a tag for each recipient, then share the link with that tag on the end. The dashboard shows which tag was opened, when, from where.

One link per recipient.

Your page lives on its own address. Add a tag on the dashboard and it becomes a link of its own, counted separately.

Same page every time. Only the tag differs — so you know whose copy was opened without sending anyone a different document.

Tags are added on your dashboard first, and each is one word — no slashes. An address you haven't added returns "page not found", which is what stops a stray image reference inside your own page becoming a recipient who doesn't exist.

Why the long address? Every page gets its own subdomain, so the browser treats it as its own origin. One person's page can never read another's data, and nothing hosted here can reach the rest of Vela Drop.

Your dashboard.

What you can see

  • Total opens and approximate unique visitors
  • People and machines kept apart — a mail scanner fetching your link is not a reader
  • Which tag was opened, and when
  • Country, from Cloudflare's edge
  • Device and browser, from the user agent
  • Referrers, when the browser sends one

What you can do

  • Add tags for recipients, up to 20 per page
  • Set the browser tab title
  • Attach your email, so a lost link can be sent back to you
  • Delete everything, immediately

What we deliberately don't do.

Most of the value here is in what's absent. These are decisions, not gaps.

  • We never modify your HTML. No injected scripts, no analytics snippet, no badge. Byte for byte what your recipient gets.
  • Nothing is counted with a cookie. Visitor numbers are approximate and cookie-free, on every page, on every plan. The only cookie Vela Drop can ever set is the one that remembers a reader has proved their address on a page whose owner chose to restrict it, and it counts nothing — the whole arrangement is in the privacy notice.
  • Nobody edits your page but you. We never touch the bytes. On the free plan a page is fixed once it is uploaded — to change it, upload a new one. Pro lets you, the owner, replace the file behind a link you already sent, and keeps every earlier upload so you can put one back. Either way the link itself never changes under your recipient's feet.
  • Fair use applies. There are limits on how much one person can upload and how much traffic one page can record. They are set high enough that ordinary use never meets them, and they exist so that one bad day for somebody else is not one for you.
  • There are no accounts. The edit link is the only credential, which is why it matters that you keep it.
  • Nothing is kept. After 30 days the file, the analytics, and the metadata are deleted permanently.

That's the entire product.

Nothing to install, nothing to sign up for.
